Yeah! I bought the fabric for this quilt before the black and red quilt but then couldn't find the right orange to coordinate with it. (Her sister Amanda who was a junior decided to graduate this year too! So there are two graduation quilts to get done...hmm no pressure.) Alicia's quilt was delivered this week and from all reports was a big hit. Amanda's quilt is in the machine and the quilting is underway - it might even be done by Christmas! Her grandmother had given her some blocks and asked her to put them together - what fun! They were embroidered flower blocks made 60+ years ago and they are beautiful. Unfortunately I didn't think to bring my camera but Hubby took a picture with his phone. The graduation of color from the red/oranges at the top to the purples at the bottom is quite challenging. I thought the larger blocks would be the most difficult but it is the small ones that are the hardest. The small arc means you have less room to work. These blocks each take quite a bit of work so I am really looking forward to completing it and moving on to a couple of simpler but very exciting projects I have waiting in the wings. Every other week for three months we exchanged two 6 inch squares of different fabrics. There were 17 charm square exchangers so each week we came with 34 squares and left with 34 new squares. Then we had to make a quilt using all 360+ squares. Background fabrics could be added and the quilt could be any size.
